I am currently re-reading all of the Poldark series - mainly inspired by the new television show. Twenty eight years ago I started with Ross Poldark and I think I finished with the Loving Cup, well this time around I aim to read them all.
Winston Graham's writing is so descriptive of the period and his characterisations are well written and enthralling.

"The Four Swans" takes its title from the swans on the river in Truro, observed by both Morwenna & Ross. To Ross, they seem to represent the four main women in his life (Demelza, Caroline, Elizabeth and Morwenna), each of whom faces challenges in her life and her marriage in this book. Oops, it's been a while since I finished this and now I have to try to remember what happened in it! The memories are coming back to me now...
I didn't think Demelza would ever do it, but she did! I'll leave it at that and you can read the book to find out what I'm talking about. ;) This book had yet more tragedy to offer the characters, though some happy things occurred as well I guess... As usual they're few and far between! I can only imagine what will happen in the next book. I've got it read ...more
