What Members Thought
I read this right after The Scarlet Letter, and I said Melville was a better writer and storyteller than Hawthorne and apparently that was a "hot take". But I fully stand by it, I get the hype now, this is so quotable and human. And as one who dreams of the sea often, I deeply appreciate his clarity and how Melville seemed unafraid to dive into a lot of beautiful details.

Certainly not what I expected. Perhaps I'm not as cultured as I thought I was, but the best thing about this book is that it's over.
