What Members Thought

‘Nobody knows a thing about it except you, Padre.’ ‘My dear young man, you underestimate the detective instinct of village life. In St Mary Mead everyone knows your most intimate affairs. There is no detective in England equal to a spinster lady of uncertain age with plenty of time on her hands.’

What a read! Finished in a day. I think it’s probably my favourite Miss Marple, even though she’s somewhat a side character here.
I thought this books was really well-paced until the last few chapters which felt too rushed. But the suspense building was good and it kept me reading. The character development here was pretty good for a Christie. And I liked that the narration came from the Vicar, who is, fortunately, a lot more astute than Poirot’s Hastings.
Definitely recommended!

Yay! Finally, jumped onto the Marple bandwagon.
Great read. Very enjoyable and all the colourful characters were so fun! I was afraid that I wasn't able to keep up with all the characters but they all had their own standout personalities and roles, so it didn't become a problem.
Unlike Poirot, I love that Marple isn't a professional detective and just a nosy woman in the small town(village?). She just knows everything and everyone.

An excellent book though Miss Marple really is secondary to the vicar in the start to the series. She is the brains of the investigation however.
