I did not realize that this was a LGBTIQ book when I started it, and I appreciated how organically it flowed. Astrid's struggle with her sexual identity is wholly sympathetic, if not to the characters who surround her in the book. Everyone wanted her to choose, one way or the other. I half wanted her to make a stand at bisexual, which seemed like a non-option, but I was genuinely happy for her when she came to terms with her own sexual identity in her own time, and was ready to tell her friends ...more

I really give this 3.75 stars--it's difficult to rate because the topic is too much for me lately, but King has this way of writing that makes me feel really vested in the characters. It ties up a little too easily in the end, but if you want to read a decent LBTQ book then King won't disappoint. ...more
