This was such a moving story of friendship, death and love. Warning: this a many tissue book and incredibly sad. My own experience with cancer in a family makes me realize how very realistic Green handles this topic. Cancer makes us face life in death in ways that can feel like your whole life just get pulled out from underneath you and your lucky if you land flat on your back.

I supposse if you could give six stars to a book for Young Adults, this would be it. Skillfully written and balanced the story told by Hazel Grace and her love for Augustus Waters will not soon be forgotten. Fictitious characters dying and dead, they are vibrant, fierce and heroic. My Teens all agreed: Bravo! You made us feel the unfathomable and we are the better for it.

Bright, witty conversation, along with the pain of teens living with cancer. A welcome variation from Green's usual unattainable woman books, although, one could argue that falling in love with a girl with cancer is falling in love with someone with whom one can have not future.

One of the most intelligent, moving, and quirky books I have read in a long time. I loved the protagonists with their acerbic wit, philosophical tangents, and truly lovely romance in the face of so much pain. I would recommend this to anyone seeking a teen book with depth of character. Do be prepared with tissues...I cried for the last 30 or so pages!

Interestingly enough, I did not write a review the first time I read this. I have now read it for the second time in preparation for a teen book discussion. I now remember not wanting to give it less than 4 stars, but I didn't love this book as much as the fans. I am giving you a review link below where in my opinion the reviewer perfectly states why she only gives it a B rating. I agree with her criticisms and accolades. I give this a 4- out of 5 stars.
