What Members Thought
A wonderful realistic novel for middle grade readers who are into animals, survival stories, spunky female characters and those who can deal with a realistic war story surround these elements. I learned so much about Congo and Bonobos reading this book....the end was bittersweet and the writing was lovely. 5 stars for being educational and interesting for kids and adults alike!
This was a well-written, educational, survival story read. There was a strong female protagonist. I can see why it gets great reviews. As for me, I just got tired of so many pages of the animal behavior and the dangers of the jungle. That being said, I think many tweens, teens, and adults will like this book but it just was 'okay' for me.
