A gem of a crafting novel.
Thoroughly enjoyable lightrpg novel. It’s not heavy on mechanics, but the story and world building are positives. I liked the NPCs and their viewpoint is represented. The real strength is the main POV character. I found Chess to be compelling, personable and worthy to follow along.
I also liked the other POV characters and stories, although one of the two is kind of dropped without a lot of resolution. There are minor grammatical mistakes, but nothing too j ...more

Good story but needs an editor
The book's focus on crafting kept my attention even though i swore to dnf the VR/AI nightmares where the company zeroes in on the MC because they're playing the game with their own spin or a scrap of intelligence.
That plot led to uncovering a pretty emotional story in the real world of the MC, so it wasn't as much as a migraine like other series in the genre.
Book 2 started after all the fallout from book 1 was over or getting cleared up but the in-game stuff quickly ...more
