This book begins where Lizzy is standing on the cliffs in Derbyshire during her trip there with her aunt and uncle Gardiner. They end up touring Pemberley after being assured that the family was from home but Elizabeth ends up being scared by Darcy walking through some bushes and falls off the dock that she was standing on into the water.
