Summary
It’s the early 1890s and Chicago has been chosen to host the upcoming World’s Fair. The architect in charge of overseeing the fair’s construction, exhibits, and competing priorities is Daniel Burnham. Not far away in the same city, a charming doctor employs young women in his various businesses while constructing a gas chamber and kiln far below ground, in preparation for the countless murders he will carry out.
