This is I think around the twentieth time that I've read Matilda. Yes, I did grow up surrounded with the movie and all of Dahl's other novels. But this on I had a strong connection with. I HAVE to give this book 5 stars!!
This movie made from this book is literally one of my favourite movies of all time. I have seen it hundreds of times! The book was so similar which even had me wondering which was done first!!
I personally like the movie more than the book because the book was missing details that helped explain and build up the events a little more, also the cast in the movie just made the film so great I don't think the book can compete with the life that was brought to all t ...more

How come I never discovered Roald Dahl's books as a child? I've seen some film adaptations of his books, including The BFG last year which brought Roald Dahl to my attention, but as far as I remember I have never read anything by him before now. Such a pity, because I would have loved this story as a kid and even as an adult I find it pretty darn adorable.
