When Grace starts in a new school, in a new town living with her grandparents, being the new kid she is bullied. But Charlie comes to her rescue and they have been best friends since grade school until Charlie’s death. They had buried a memory box and upon Charlie’s death Grace digs it up and finds a letter inside that Grace did not know Charlie had placed there. At first I didn't like this book. It took me several chapters to really get into it and I am glad I stuck with it.
Grace had a rough childhood and Charlie became her best friend and is the one who helped her to get through it. Later Charlie takes off with no explanation and Grace is shocked and saddened. Then Charlie comes back for one day and immediately dies. Charlie's life becomes difficult with her missing Charlie, never knowing why she disappeared and Charlie's mother accusing Grace of causi ...more

Louise Jensen really tried my patience to the utmost by dragging the story a bit too far my level of tolerance -I was halfway through the book and still had no idea where it was going. You start reading thinking it's about Charlie, and that indefinite little something she had done (what was that, btw?) and somehow you're left questioning about a stalker, a suicide, a mistress and an affair.
