The Vegetarian was a strange book. I really enjoyed it, but I'm not sure I would recommend it.
The Vegetarian is a Korean literary fiction/somewhat horror novel by Han Kang. It was translated into English by Deborah Smith. I think the translation was fantastic. There are plenty of critics who disagree with me on the translation, but it won Han Kang and Deborah Smith the Man Booker Prize so I'm not alone in my feelings toward the translation.

Speechless, estoy tratando de procesar y estoy sufriendo mucho, es mi segundo libro de Han Kang y amo estas imágenes mentales que nos regala, sé que las flores, las imágenes de los sueños del libro me van a perseguir, que van a crecer muchísimo dentro de mi conforme pasen los días, pero también sé lo brutal que va a ser eso.
Esta ambivalencia y conflicto interno es lo que hace que ames el texto.

This is the most powerful short novel I've read in a long time. It had my mind going fast and my heart racing. There are so many themes explored and the cultural implications are not lost here. Truly a masterpiece. The writing is gorgeous. I highly recommend although- beware!- this is not a light read.

🌿Perturbadora, visceral, incómoda, bizarra, oscura, densa, brutal, dolorosa, y angustiante. Asi describiría esta novela.
🌿Tipo "Me la estoy pasando bien raro", lo que lees no es lo que crees. Tus expectativas debes dejarlas fuera, es más, mejor no hacerse ninguna idea. Quizás, si piensas en lo mas bizarro que podrías leer, estarás cerca. Si algo puedes esperar es que se te rompa el corazón un poco.
