After keeping this book on hold for almost three years with no eagerness for continuation, I must accept that the time has come for Renee Ahdieh and I to part ways.
I tried to like The Wrath and the Dawn and excuse its many shortcomings for the sake of the love I had for the real story of Shahrzad, the girl who managed to stay alive in the house of a monster every night by her mere wit and brains alone. But to me it was never a love story. And it never would be.

Okay i need a minute..to just breathe right now cause my heart is like on the floor everything happened so fast in the last chapters of the book.my head hurts from the tears i shed..but I absolutely LOVED this book it was as good as the first one maybe better in some ways but im not disappointed in any way at all. Reza oh Reza im so glad you got what u deserved you bloody bastard you deserved so much worse..As for Salim for i wished died the same death of Reza but slowly..unfortunately no -_- le sigh..now for my thoughts on how Renee Ahdieh decided to make my heart stop completely at the second to last chapter like omg why i was like no nono please no! Jahandar's stupidity i cant even begin to explain but at least he did one single thing rightt in his whole pitful life..i still dont forgive him..curse him..The last chapter i cried in disbelief that my baby Khalid was okay and him and Shahrzad had a boy..my heart like *sobs* these are tears of happiness and disbelief that they actually got to be happy and just have everything they deserve. The fact that their son is bestfriends with Jalal and Despina daughter..i cant evenn *squeals and cries* i can't identify all the emotions going through me right now.im at least slighty okay that Irsa has Artan as a friend.if this is the last book..goodbye beautiful series i love you so much.Thank You Renee Ahdieh for writing these beautiful books. ...more

Gosh, I just really don't know how to feel about this. Love Shazi, love Khalid--but this book really underwhelmed me. The last part especially was very dull/not fleshed out, and many interesting plot points just didn't seem to go anywhere. :/ 3.5/5 for me. ...more

And end of an era. That's what finishing this book feels like. And reading this book feels like the best sort of carnival ride.

There's ambition, deceit, love, friendship, grief, regret, and surprising twists, everything that makes me wish this book never finished. The story was like a never-ending flow of clear, sparkling water with golden rays of sunshine adding warmth and colour, and sleek, silver fishes that danced within.

I think I'll stop while I can, and go write a poem. I'm getting too poe ...more

This duology has been such an epic journey! From the start of the Wrath and the Dawn, Renee Ahdieh made me feel such a vast array of emotions! From such hate towards a specific character, to pure sorrow! and Shazi, oh, what a heroine! So fierce and fabulous! Throughout this duology I felt like I was with her every step of the way! Really enjoyed this, nicely continued story, well finished. One little pet peeve of mine throughout this was all of the sentences starting with 'for'. It got really annoying, which is so petty of me, I know. But that's why I couldn't give full stars.
