What Members Thought

You’re not going to find anything revolutionary in my review. As a first draft of her classic To Kill a Mockingbird, it’s fascinating from my writer’s perspective. But as a book unto itself, it was rightfully never published in the beginning. It’s plot-less, rambling, preachy, and (as a sequel) fails to revive beloved characters in a satisfactory way.

In reading this book, I found myself, like Jean Louise wanting nothing to change. Wanting the past to be like the present. Aren’t we all like that in some way? Jean Louise put her dad, Atticus Finch, on a level with God. He came crashing down to earth in the mind of Jean Louise.
There are wrongs in this world. This nation has a lot of healing that still needs to occur. This book will open old wounds and hit the consciousness of a nation. Hopefully more Jean Louise’s rise up and force us to look ...more
