I actually give this 4.5 stars.
I really liked the characters and the way they interacted with each other. This book is really well written however I found the start a bit slow (the reason I didn't give it 5 stars). I thought this book was really unique with the parallel worlds and magic, it was amazing. ...more

Plot:
This book follows the story of both Kell and Lila. Kell is a traveller who can travel between the three different London’s (red, white and grey) and Lila is someone he meets along the way. I don’t want to give too much away because I don’t want to spoil. I thought this story was very interesting. I do want to know more about the world that Kell and Lila live in, I’m so interested. But I’m assuming that will be explored later on in the books as this is the first one in the series. I did find ...more

Honestly I love VE Schwab but I found this book dragging, super hard to connect or care about the two main characters really until 75% I listened to the audiobook. Not much really happened and there was quite a lot of set up and not enough payout until the very end. I love the premise, the magic, and the plot had a lot of potential; I just felt like it was flat until the last 25%. I hope this gets better with the next two in the series.
