OMG. That was the first reaction reaction I had when I finished this book. I went in knowing very little about the story and setting and it simply blew me away. There had been a ton of hype and it definitely met all my expectations. It was very good. I really enjoyed the characters. A five-star novel despite its multiple flaws in wording and pacing. Kelsier is particularly strong as a character. It's always fun to read of Vin and Elend and Sazed. The worldbuilding is outstanding and the magical systems are some of the best I've encountered.

This book was awesome-great characters, political intrigue, a really solid fantasy world, adventure, unexpected plot twists-I'm going to stop now...
I loved that this was also a complete story even though it's part of a series-I was so worried it would end and leave me hanging till I could get ahold of the next book but it ended neatly leaving room for the other books but still satisfying as its own story. First let me just say this book was bought for me as a present by a pretty awesome friend. It is so far from my usual style that I was pretty skeptical when I started, and I probably wouldn't have decided to read it on my own, but since it was a present, I thought I should try it. I'M SO GLAD I DID!!!! The beginning was a bit confusing for me and I found myself losing track of characters and places. But I was able to get into it pretty quickly, and from there I was hooked. The world building in First let me just say this book was bought for me as a present by a pretty awesome friend. I'M SO GLAD I DID!!!! The beginning was a bit confusing for me and I found myself losing track of characters and places. But I was able to get into it pretty quickly, and from there I was hooked. The world building in this book was so amazing and detailed, I'm pretty sure that Sanderson is some sort of wizard. I did have a hard time keeping track of all the metals and pulling and pushing. There was a scene where Kelsier explained it to Vin, but every time they burned steel or iron I was confused as to exactly what that meant. But when I got to the back I discovered a handy index that would have been more helpful in the first few chapters. Once I read the index, I was able to picture how Vin and Kelsier were able to move through the air. I did find that there were some scenes in the middle that not much was happening and I was just waiting to get to more exciting parts. For the most part though, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. (view spoiler) I loved Vin. It was so nice seeing her blossom from this timid, suspicious, mentally scarred girl into a confident and happy person. (view spoiler) I also loved that this book had a good ending and I don't have to read another 2 books to be satisfied with the story. I look forward to reading the subsequent books and exploring this world more, but I feel happy with the way this book ended. I have so many more thoughts about this book that I'm not remembering right now, and I wish I would have written them down as I was reading so I could write them here. I’m in a fandom group where it seems that everyone raves about Brandon Sanderson, so when I saw the first three Mistborn books sold as one book for the recent Prime “buy two books get the third free“ promo, I decided to pick them up.
