This was a hard, frightening look at a possible future given advances in genetic engineering and decline in ethics or morality. The writer tends to switch between the past and present in a dizzying, confusing manner. In this book, it adds to the disorienting mood of the protagonist as he progressed through the past in an attempt to understand his present. This was a good read, if an uncomfortable one.

Incredible worldbuilding, but the unsympathetic protagonist coupled with the total lack of personality for any other character besides the villain resulted in a book in which I had few stakes in and no one to root for.
