I have a love-hate relationship with this book. It is gorgeously written; the words pure poetry. That said, for some reason, it took me months to read this book. I suspected that it would end in an unhappy manner and that caused some hesitation but I also think it had something to do with the short chapters and alternating change in point of view. I enjoyed this book, but would have preferred to read it instead of listening to it. It was sometimes confusing with the time changes back & forth and I would have liked to be able to glance back in the book to make sense of what time we were in. But, other than that, it was a good book with a different take on WW2.
