I usually don't review books that are part of our Spines with Wines book club because they'll inevitably be reviewed three separate times in three separate posts, but I have so much to say about A Court of Mist and Fury. So. Fucking. Much.

And it goes without saying because this is a second book, but there will definitely be spoilers for A Court of Thorns and Roses , not to mention a few for this story as well -- you have been warned.

When you think Sarah J. Maas can't possibly make you feel more things then you already do with her books, she slaps you with this one! A fair warning, there are quite a few steamy scenes in it so if you are wary of things like that, it's a fair warning to you that it is in this book. I had some serious problems with this book (mainly in terms of Maas' writing/technical shortcomings, plus her inability to maintain consistent characterization), but I won't deny that it is an enjoyable read. Definitely too long, and there's a lot of seemingly unnecessary filler-like scenes. This book could have easily been 100-200 pages shorter. December 2021 Re-Read
A Court of Mist and Fury is the second book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas.
This was my second time reading this book which feels wild. I feel as if i have read this book several times and remember it so distinctly like I read it yesterday. That is a testament to how good Sarah J. Maas's writing is.
First off, I want to say that Sarah is so brilliant when it comes to her characters. I love how she was able to really change things up in this book a December 2021 Re-Read
A Court of Mist and Fury is the second book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas.
This was my second time reading this book which feels wild. I feel as if i have read this book several times and remember it so distinctly like I read it yesterday. That is a testament to how good Sarah J. Maas's writing is.
First off, I want to say that Sarah is so brilliant when it comes to her characters. I love how she was able to really change things up in this book and turn the whole original story on their head. She made the definition of not judging a book by its cover especially when it comes to Rhysand and the Night Court. I won't say anymore for fear of spoilers but this book really emphasized how she can really change up her whole stories and still make it work.
Second, the plot was definitely a set up for the third book and beyond but it was still done interestingly. She managed to make it so that it didn't completely overwhelm the story or make it have spots that are boring. I thought the plot was well done in this book and I really enjoyed re-reading the plot and seeing how it evolved over time.
Overall, I loved my re-read of this book. It brought me so much joy to be able to re-read this book and be back in this world. It really helped pull me out of a pretty depressive episode and I'm so glad that I had this book to turn to.

Maas managed to do it right. The ending of this book, I was a wreck. I was gasping, screaming and crying because I couldn't believe what was happening. Then the true ending showed itself and I just lost it. IT was fantastic and it left me wanting to read the third book because I devoured this one, but the third one doesn't come out for awhile and I NEED IT! I loved watching Feyre develop and Rhysand. Someone send me a Rhsyand because holy hell that guy is what I want. I couldn't believe what happened in this book especially at the end and I am so excited for the next book. Second Read: April 2017
I was so interested to see if this would hold up a second time and I'm glad to say that it did. It's has now cemented its self as one of my all-time favourite books. I remembered quite a bit about this book but I never felt bored one bit. And because I knew stuff, I could pick up on all those little moments which made my heart sing and ache all at the same time. God, I love this book.
