I'm about fifty pages in.

Not for the faint of heart... this one gets really gross describing the results of serious burn injuries... but I am extremely compelled to keep reading... ...more

I was more interested in the main character's recovery from severe burns and his giving up morphine cold turkey, by way of the circles of hell.

Many in my book group found this very romantic--for me the love story part left me cold.

Intermixed with the present day story, the burn victims' lover tells him stories of their past. Clearly the author did some nice research here, but these stories did not do much for me. ...more

This was better than I expected. I have to admit that I am not usually a great one for "love" stories, but this did pass muster. Maybe because the main male character falls in love, despite all attempts not to, with the woman who essentially helps him to recover after extremely severe burns injuries. ...more
