A little too much like a list of happenings, but a lot of ideas about feminism and the different approaches people take to it. The only thing, every male character was a stock character, but then that wasn't so much a bad thing. ...more

The narrator comes right out and says that this book doesn't have a plot (and the narrator's "veiled identity" is actually one of the failures in this book, as it feels rather gimmicky). But this book spends its 600 + pages zooming in on a few specific women's communities that serve to illustrate most of the issues second-wave feminism attempted to tackle. The book's protagonist, Mira, ties the various threads together, as she's the one that the "camera follows" most closely. Thus, we experience ...more
