For some reason I resisited reading this book-maybe because I couldn't imagine Jk Rowling writing a book for adults. But this mystery was charming, witty and absorbing. I loved it!

I'm not sure that I would have picked this up if it weren't for the J.K. Rowling element, but I'm pretty glad that I did. In general, it's a fun, traditional mystery novel, complete with a confrontation between our hero the detective and the one who did it. I was reading the denoument while waiting for a flight and almost didn't turn off my Kindle for take off because I really needed to know how it all happened!

I thought the book was well written with descriptions of London and the characters. I felt the story line was weak. I found a lack of twists and turns to keep me guessing about the killer. It didn't. The end was a little lack luster having Strike tie everything up with a neat bow.

I genuinely enjoyed this book. The world was richly described- I disappeared into it and found myself eager to learn more about each character. I haven't enjoyed a book like this in awhile- smartly written but easy to read.
