This is my third or fourth read of Gilman's short story but I am more impressed every time. She was very modern and ambitious as a writer at the turn of the century. The story addresses issues of the female body/intellect, who has a say in knowing one's self, creative mind vs. rational mind and of course the fight against the patriarchal system. Stunning...
