The book didn't grab my attention at first, but once I dug down and actually started to read, I found that I couldn't put it down. I was looking forward to my reading time.

A friend of mine recommended this book to me and I hadn't realized it was about the search for Dracula when I started. I really enjoyed the emphasis on scholarly research and eastern European history, but it got a little slow in the middle and had I rated it at that point it would have been a three. The ending picked up again and ended well hence the 4.

Quite the page turner. I enjoyed the story within a story layers and the fact that it's the author's first novel, took her over ten years to write, and is rich in history, travel, mystery, and a father-daughter relationship. One of my favorites of the year. Borrowed from Manda.
