This little 1970s YA fantasy is such a gem—I wish I’d read it sooner! It tackles traditions & gender roles and the effects of emotional abuse without being an “issues” novel—the themes are so naturally woven into the story. And, I mean: singing fire lizards (i.e. mini dragons). Loved this. Can’t wait to read the rest of the trilogy.
