What Members Thought

This is a powerful account of French women who endured Nazi concentration camps. However, rather than focus on a few women to whom the reader can connect, the author attempts to cover all 230 stories. Without a narrative, A Train in Winter becomes a historical reference book that is at times confusing. Perhaps I'm just too much a historical fiction fan to enjoy the genre of straight historical inquiry.
