It's the book narrated by the dog that everyone's been talking about!

At first, I was pretty sure the conceit of having a dog narrator was going to be the only thing this book had going for it, and I wasn't even sure that was going to be enough because the Enzo's voice and reasoning are a little too human to be fully believable. It doesn't feel like you're hearing a story from the dog's perspective; it just feels like it's from a person who can't talk and who people only sometimes take seriously.

I loved this book, I really did. I loved the characters (except the twins). Enzo is as wise and profound and soulful as I have always known dogs would be.

I had a little bit of trouble with the "custody" plot line. I'm happy with how it resolved, but was a bit irritated with what it included. I didn't think it was necessary to go there.

In any case, I will add this to my I love Dogs list!

I absolutely loved this book told in first person from a dog's perspective. The actual plot of the story was very sad and at times caused me a lot of anxiety, but reading from Enzo's point of view was well worth it. There were SEVERAL times I actually said, out loud, to Kahlua, "Do you understand me?" And then I was grateful I live alone.

However, if you have a dog and/or love dogs and consider them part of the family, this is a great, quick read that is unique and will make you love your dog ev

A fast read - I really enjoyed the story. Initially I was skeptical about dog as the storyteller but it was refreshingly different.
