I thought this was a well written book in some regards but I have such a hard time getting past the idea that a very young child could recount so many details and conversations of her childhood. At the end of the book, the author says her siblings provided their recollections as well so perhaps the story is accurate as told.

A substitute teacher at work last week recommended this to me and as I enjoy non-fiction I thought I'd try it. This is a riveting book that I read in a couple of evenings. It is told as if Ruth is still the child who experienced life in a polygamous Mormon sect, a childhood that she had to survive not enjoy. It's hard to believe that this is Ruth Wariner's first book-well written, heart wrenching, this book will touch you. I wish for a sequel!
