I grabbed this to read when Maya Angelou died, thinking it was a stand-alone. Alas, it's not, and I've only read the first in the series back in high school. I liked this, I learned a lot, I'll read the rest.
(I will say that I think it's weird when memoirists use quotation marks around conversations. Did you really remember the exact quote?)
