Dana Berglund
I was under the mistaken impression that this was historical fiction, taking place during the 1880s when Jack the Ripper did his damage. It then colored my reading somewhat to find it was actually modern paranormal fiction. Huh. Shift gears.

Maureen Johnson always writes great books and this one is no exception. It wasn't quite as creepy as I was promised, until the end which I was reading in the the middle of the night. Looking forward to the next installment with Rory. ...more

The narrator's voice and intelligent teenage humor were genuine, and I was drawn in. Loved the details of history, of the Underground, of London's Whitechapel area, of the different characters the MC encounters... great stuff! ...more
