One of Morrison's shorter books, with her usual lyrical prose. Not particularly easy to read - as the narrative point of view shifts, and the reader is left somewhat hanging. Yet her portrayal of the main characters is generally sympathetic ...more

A bit minimalist, but a beautiful example of Morrison's new focus on reaching deeply with fewer words. She puts us inside the minds of the characters and allows us to piece together the narrative from the inside and outside of space and time. It grows on me the more I think about it. ...more
