I really want to give this 3 1/2 stars--but couldn't give it three, so went to four! Erdich is just too "wordy" of a writer for my taste-yet I really liked this story. It captured my interest and read it off and on for a few days-going back to it whenever I could. When I was young, we owned a cottage on an Indian reservation in northern Wisconsin so I am familiar with the setting, and she really gets it right.
