i've heard about this a couple times and seen quotes floating around the internet but just got around to checking it out today -- upon which i spent approximately six hours gulping the whole thing down. an excellent debunking of the most common myths about abuse which argues (correctly imo) that abuse is a problem of beliefs about superiority and domination. the book links this explicitly to patriarchy but i think the general idea extends quite neatly to abusive behaviors linked to racism, homop

I read this book because I am currently volunteering at a woman's shelter. It was recommended to me by the volunteer coordinator. It taught me so much about the abuser and broke so many myths that I had about why men actually abuse women. I would recommend this book be read by anyone truly interested in helping break this cycle of abuse. It could be a relative, a friend, or yourself. With knowledge brings power :)
