I was interested in this as a memoir of infertility/adoption/parenthood and couldn't have cared less about the fact that it was written by a celebrity.
Unfortunately, about half the book was "celebrity memoir." Vardalos spends tons of time name-dropping, giving way more details than I cared about regarding her career and the success of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," etc. While it's somewhat reassuring to know that celebs go through some of the same pain and struggle that other families face in build ...more

Understatement: wanting a baby and not being able to have one is hard. I'm so glad Nia Vardalos shared her fertility struggles and adoption story! She and her husband adopted through the US foster care system, and the book features a lot of great information specifically on that method of adoption. The end collects information from a variety of adoption organizations (domestic and international) with basic facts on processing time, fees, and requirements.
