I had been wanting to read this book for awhile, even though I'm not a big watcher of either OITNB or Jane the Virgin, because Guerrero chronicles the story of her parents being deported from the US when she was 14 years old, and how she had to - and still has to - cope with the aftermath of the deportation. I listened to it, but I think it may actually be better in print, because she narrates it like she's reading it, instead of like she's telling you a story or having a conversation with you. ...more

It is really wonderful Guerrero is able to use her budding celebrity to shed light on the repercussions of deportation. I hope her career continues to climb as she is also a great actress.

Heartbreaking and hopeful in turns, with a lot of people doing the best they can in difficult circumstances. This book has a lot of raw emotion combined with the wisdom of retrospect. I hope this book finds its way to the people who need it, for all the different reasons it can be beneficial.
