What Members Thought
Don't let the seemingly pulpy synopsis fool you. This book is worth it's salt. Yes, it's a little reminiscent of the Harry Potter series (a dead parent, a young girl who doesn't quite fit in and discovers she has these secret powers, a dark shadowy figure that is after her, a mysterious past, English school set in an English countryside...need I go on?) If you never grow tired of these stories (I know I don't) then you'll enjoy this book.

So. I've decided that I like Libba Bray, but I just can't get into the whole petticoats and corsets deal. Steampunk or fantasy or magical realism... regardless. It's just not my bag. And yet I keep trying to read it. I'm glad to tick an item off my "books which have been on my Currently Reading list for months, half-finished" list though.
