I wanted to read this book for a long time -- so long that, after I started it and a friend told me it wasn't worth my time, I insisted that I soldier on, anyway. I don't regret finishing it, but it wasn't necessarily worth the wait.

Surprising, given the title, but this book is actually narrated by Tinkerbell. It is almost as much her own story as that of Tiger Lily's, and she's not the fairy I thought she was. The fairies' state of begin mute makes her the perfect observer of the development and dissolution of the relationship between Tiger Lily and Peter.

Anderson breathes life into peripheral characters from Peter Pan, giving them detailed and exquisite backstories and motivation...almost at the expense of the plot...which I can forgive because it was beautiful anyway. Aside from Tiger Lily, she made the characters of Smee, Hook, the mermaids, and the Lost Boys far more than archetypes or one note, and she invented new characters to support Tiger Lily's motives and actions; I loved Tik Tok. ...more
