I really loved reading this book and wasn’t sure what to expect. Pulled in by the famous Plath line from The Bell Jar and the photos of it on Instagram over a year ago. For being a book about seventeen brushes with death or one that nods to Plath, you might expect a dark jump, but I did not find this to be the case at all. I can’t rate this book highly enough - one of the best of the year. I was apprehensive going into it because I was worried it would be a morbid, anxiety-inducing read - but it was so not that. Uplifting, funny, resilient, at times heartbreaking, never sappy, it made me nostalgic for youth and thankful for every day I’ve been lucky to grow older.
