Total slog. Disjointed. The main character is mostly terrible and self destructive—the reader has no context for this until her redemption arc. there are attempted larger themes or elements that just aren’t quite pulled off. It’s got a lot of petty drama and was as other reviewers have cited, annoying at times. I would characterize this read as agitating with a satisfying ending. It was my March BOTM book and I don’t recommend.

Oh, such a good book, but some tough stuff to read delivered by some truly great writing. Candice Carty-Williams has a wonderful engaging style and a great way of describing people and places, and her dialogue is great. But Queenie herself is a mess and oh, how I just wanted to give her a hug and tell her it wasn't her fault. Fortunately, she has some great friends and family (and some not-so-great) who help her as much as she lets them, but Queenie herself has to hit absolute rock bottom before
