Gilead is a spiritual story about several generations, told through the journal of an aging John Ames to his young son to be read after he is gone. It is an intimate, touching story about relationships, spirituality, joy, and the beauty in the world, even when times are tough. The author uses lush yet sparse prose. Wow, loved it.
