What Members Thought
I liked this first book and diviner/mage Alex, enough that I switched over from audio to find out (faster) how things turned out even though I did think the story worked well in audio and the reader was good. Will definitely be checking out the next books.
Fun book! I'm going to enjoy exploring this series.

So much better then Dresden.
Alex is a likable character, and easy to root for his success, which is certainly hard-won. I disliked the dark mages complete sociopathology - that was very ugly. And the Light Council wasn't much better.

Funny, charming, but at times a bit dry, Fated is an entertaining read. I understand the comparisons to The Dresden Files and The Iron Druid, but feel that the series and Alex himself have a great deal of growing to do before they are as engaging.

We are reading the first three books in the Alex Verus series in the Vampire, Weres and Fae group here on Goodreads. I am not sure this is a book I would have picked out on my own, although I did like the premise. I tend to read books that have a little romance in there somewhere, this one has none.
