From Amazon:
When Clary Fray witnesses three tattoo-covered teenagers murder another teen, she is unable to prove the crime because the victim disappears right in front of her eyes, and no one else can see the killers. 3-3.5 stars

This series follows two lead characters, Clary and Jace, and their friends and families. Clary is a typical teen (or is she?) and Jace is a Shadowhunter- essentially a demon hunter. Clary and Jace are interestingly flawed characters. There were moments where Clary was either a.) an idiot or b.) a snarky bitch, and I hope that was intentional on Cassandra Clare's part. Absolutely Awesome... sums up the book to me.. after reading the reviews with such mixed feelings I had decided to read it myself finally.I read it from beginning to end in one day, I just couldn't put it down. Although it begins slow it takes you by surprise and just blows you away with all its secrets. This book has just enough cliff hangers, suspense, and love quarrel all wrapped into a well categorized plot! A must read in my opinion! ...more

If you've read all the 1 star reviews, then you know that this book is clearly Harry Potter fan-fiction. The Harry Potter parallels were obvious when reading City of Bones, but I didn't care! I loved the story and the action. Also, I liked that Cassandra Clare used a lot of humor and had the balls to write an incest-themed story line.
