I enjoyed this novel as it takes place somewhere I have visited, if only briefly-Natchez Mississippi. But the protagonist has the occasional attack of TSTL (Too Stupid To Live) virus which, though it did serve to push the plot forward, also seriously annoyed yours truly. One character compares the events in this book to a Southern Gothic novel, and it is just that-what kept me reading was the unfolding of so many sordid secrets, and every Southern town has them.
