Tedious book about people chasing the invisible man. Nothing else happens.

HG Wells-a name to conjure with. Wells introduced so many of the tropes of modern science fiction into popular literature: invisibility, time travel, genetic engineering, space travel, alien invasion. His imagination was remarkably fertile. I enjoyed The Invisible Man quite a bit, because Wells takes a simple idea (being invisible) and has great fun totally destroying what at first glance would seem to be a very enjoyable thing.
