Dec 2020 update:

Going back and rereading this after being caught up in the series is such a different feeling, catching the hints and reading between the lines. Knowing the characters and the why. An insider rather then an outsider.

Also I never realized that this reread was almost 5 years later.

If you are a lover of Beauty and the Beast retellings, if you like your fantasy to involve magical realms, fairies, romance, a wickedness that is just too good then you'll enjoy this book.

2023 REREAD: 3.75/5 Man, this hits different the second time around, right?
On one hand, it’s oddly satisfying to see the Easter eggs, double meanings, & the foreshadowing.
On the other hand, knowing the epic romantasy build to evolve from this… book one isn’t my favorite in the series.

2020 Read 4/5 I came for the strong female character lead. (Received.)
