I liked this series starter. Necromancer Greir is an appealing lead, and the bits of the story with her leading ghost tours 👻 was interesting.(view spoiler) I've already downloaded the second and pleased to find a new author who writes things just abit different. ...more

I really enjoyed this book. The world building and character development was great. There isn't really any romance so for those of you that don't like romance in your paranormal, this is probably a read for you. Although I have a feeling that may change after this book. I have become a big fan of Hailey Edwards lately, she writes exactly what I like to read. I will definitely continue on with this series. ...more

3.5 stars with lots of potential
This was a good start to a series! I quite like the sentient house, I seem to have a thing for those. Interesting characters, Grier is resilient after spending years of her young life locked in a prison. She has PTSD moments that make sense and I appreciate that her release didn't lead to an instant fix for her. There are some great side characters as well that I look forward to learning more about. Plus a very different kind of familiar! It was an enjoyable ride
