I loved this story and I especially loved that its a story based on their d&d adventure.
Sturm was my favorite character because he was so different (serious) from the other characters. And he was stoically knightly.
Raistlin is my second favorite character because he seems to care about and want to be kind to those that are abused and mistreated in life. His moment with Bupu when he was releasing her from his enthrall was so kind and tender and sweet. But I also enjoyed how much of a dick he was ...more

I first read this book back in 1987, three years after it was first published. I was in my last year of junior high school, and enjoyed the book immensely. When I came across a battered Wizards of the Coast reissue in a used bookstore, I decided to revisit Krynn. I'm happy to say that it's lost none of its magic in the 29 years I've been away. That's the mark of a true fantasy classic. So please: ignore the snark-riddled reviews of myopic millennials. Their brains have clearly been so saturated

Meh. I didn't like our group of characters. I didn't like the way they treated each other. They did not seem like friends or companions to me. They did have a lot of adventures, and kept on going from one deadly encounter to another, but I didn't like any of them well enough to read anymore.
