I didn't know this story as a child, but this is definitely a book I'd want my own kids to read when they're old enough. The MC is a bored child who takes a stranger up on the offer of adventure. He follows him to a house in which all wishes are fulfilled immediately, but then he discovers that there is a price to pay. He is determined to save himself and his friends and manages that through courage and faith in himself.

I think this is everything a kids' book is supposed to be. It's also action ...more
