It's all about the details in the building of a great series. The first half of this book is packed with world building, a complex world with so many levels to explore in the future. There is barely a moment to catch your breath between paragraphs. I admit I had to go back and slow down several times to absorb all the information but I loved it. A rough, confusing start, but not a bad read. I enjoyed reading this, although from what I hear about book 2, I don't think I'll be continuing this series.

I'm already a Keri Arthur fan, and this book, the start of a new series, has me wanting more. Can't wait for the next installment in this world. The dechet, the vamps, the shifters, the others--such intricate world-building. Love it!
