Well that was a fun ride! Got so much more information about demonica and Robin's family. Also insert vampires and all their weirdness in this world. Loved learning the mythos of so much more. Was nice to see Robin interacting with guild members even if it was only for a little while in this one. Also quite liked how Zylas and Robin's relationship is progressing in all ways they have an evolving partnership and its wonderful to see. ...more

I like the way that the relationship, between the lead and her demon is slowly developing - building a fragile trust and the beginning of understanding the other's completely foreign natures. I look forward to more and seeing whether these guys are going to be the salvation of one of the characters in the other Guild Codex series.

2nd installment of Robin and her Demon's quest to solve the mystery of her heritage and find a way to send Zylas back home.
Really digging the way the author has kept Zylas authentic to his Demon self and did not changed him just because Robin really wants him to be "not a monster". His evolution to displaying empathy feels natural and not forced. He doesn't undergo a miraculous change in personality or values because SHE expects him to be HUMAN and I love it. That alone makes up for Robin's 'go ...more
